Well as you know we have a four different season here in NY, they are Fall, Winter, Preconstruction and construction (I know I know I am sure you have all heard of that one before)
Well, I say that for a reason there is nothing like driving down the highway or rural road on the way home, sun shining, windows down music up singing away and then all of a sudden BOOM!! You are stuck about 20 cars deep in a construction gridlock.
Unfortunately, like many motorists today, that was my commute home, now before I go on I need to make it clear that I have nothing against construction workers themselves and I also understand that construction must happen to maintain and rebuild roads to make it stronger better and safer but unfortunately as patient as I usually am, for some reason this just gets me going.
As I sat there waiting, at first it didn’t bother me and I continued singing along to the music and enjoying the sun shining afternoon, Well after about 5 minutes that silly little thing called boredom set in and I started to notice the fumes from the tractor trailer I was stopped behind were seeping into the car and as we all know, it’s very unpleasant. I also started to realize there were no longer cars coming through the one way passing area, and haven’t been for a while, or so I can tell seeing there was a massive truck in front of me, therefore I figure the end is near and we would be moving soon. Granted, I have been known to be wrong before.
So as I find myself getting more and more antsy I start switching stations just to find something that will occupy me for a few more minutes, well it seemed that all I could find is commercials, hostile, upsetting or already been played 5 trillion times songs (go figure) so I turn off the radio and suddenly had a green moment and consider walking the remaining 6 miles to my house, figuring somehow I would get there faster (it was the fumes I tell you)
Well after about 15 minutes the agony is over and the line starts to move, as I approach the actual construction site, I expect to find a small city half constructed seeing it felt like I was there forever, but I find one guy working, 2 holding the slow down signs, and the other 4 milling and watching the sign guys, maybe they are in training, I can’t be sure. I just wave and smile just happy to be moving, in hope that the next time I stop like this I will be in my driveway.
Granted, I do not have anger problems or anything like that and I especially have nothing against constructions workers, I give them a lot of credit standing out there in the heat, rain or whatever the weather has in store, but there is nothing like being stuck in traffic inhaling exhaust on a warm spring day…Haha here’s hoping for clear sailing tomorrow!
Talk to you all soon!!
